Compassionate Communication Training
The HPT Chatbot is a healthcare provider training tool that simulates a patient named Jackie disclosing cannabis use during a routine follow-up appointment. Providers practice responding with compassion, using evidence-based frameworks including Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed care, and neurodivergent-affirming approaches.
Each session walks through a seven-exchange simulation with adaptive scoring (GREEN / YELLOW / RED) and personalized Stick and Leaf feedback grounded in the published literature. The goal: help providers move from anxious or directive responses toward partnership and safety, especially around stigmatized topics.
